Call on your Member of Congress and our Senators and ask them to reject the latest proposal to cut funding for health coverage for low- and moderate-income New Yorkers by $33 billion by 2027. Please do this NOW, as it is moving quickly and must be voted on by September 30.
The Graham-Cassidy proposal to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act will be harmful to all of us because it:
- Radically restructures and cuts Medicaid;
- Results in elimination of coverage for millions of very low-income people; and
- Redistributes federal funds among states, with disproportionately deep cuts for New York State.
The bill proposes the same massive cuts to Medicaid that have been rejected to date. It would strip billions of dollars in federal funding from all states and result in loss of coverage for children, seniors and people with disabilities. Please, once again, send a message, loud and clear: it is unacceptable to shred our safety net and take coverage away from the children, seniors, and families, who need it most.
